Overton Square Updates

Friends of Overton Square,
Memphis Heritage is still working on trying to get more information on the development plans for Overton Square. Neither the property owner nor the potential developers are willing to discuss their plans with the local community.
We will keep you posted on any new information as we have it.
Sooner Investment and Development out of Oklahoma City is
the group we may be emailing soon. Stay tuned!

S.O.S. - SAVE OUR SQUARE
If you missed it before, below is information we sent out regarding the resolution
passed unanimously by the Memphis City Council on Tuesday June 2, 2009:
"Resolution requesting that the Division of Planning and Development/Construction Code Enforcement issue no permit for demolition in Overton Square without approval by the Memphis City Council."
This action was taken to encourage the developers to enter into a dialogue with the various stakeholders in the areas surrounding Overton Square before their plans are set.
We feel it is much easier to be creative in the design stages than to wait until a final plan is submitted to the Office of Planning and Development.
We will continue to send out emails as we have new information.
Thank you for your continued support.

Good News!
The following resolution passed unanimously in City Council yesterday,

This action was taken to encourage the developers to enter into a dialogue with the various stakeholders in the areas surrounding Overton Square before their plans are set.

We feel it is much easier to be creative in the design stages than to wait until a final plan is submitted to the Office of Planning and Development.

We will continue to send out emails as we have new information.
Thank you for your continued support.
